the pupil-dilating eyedrops made everything seem brighter. i couldn't see well enough to read text on my computer screen, so i gave up on working and was squinting in the 5 pm boston "sunlight" while waiting for the shuttle to go home. but oddly enough, everything seemed less gloomy, more happy -- even the piles of dirty snow outside mit medical seemed less disgusting -- just because there was more light everywhere.
all the time i just kept thinking -- - maybe this is why people love california so much - not that i'm sad or anything, but these eyedrops could be handy from time to time
but when i got home, i looked in the mirror and realized my eyes were like that of a werewolf's. so maybe pupil-dilating eyedrops arent the magic bullet for happiness.
ok, after reading a few posts, i'm finally motivated enough to write up something of my own.
they say a new year is a time to start over, a time for optimism and hope. perhaps i'm nostalgic for the past year and the memories that i've come to cherish, or perhaps i'm fearful of what may come when i leave the familiarities of the lifestyle and community i've become comfortable with. or maybe i'm just going through withdrawal from vacation, as i'm currently waiting in tokyo for my flight to boston. in any case, happy '09, and let's see where this year takes us. to friendships that will hopefully be part of my past, present, and future, and to the new adventures that may come after i finally (after some procrastination) enter the real world in '09.
dark knight was amazing! while i was reading about the movie on wikipedia, i realized that i actually saw part of the filming in chicago when i was visiting ling last summer. i dug up a picture that i took of the filming, and this is what i got:
hmm... a guy dangling from a helicopter. i have no idea which scene this could possibly be from in the movie. ideas?
or maybe we just happened to see some random stunts they did... which may be more likely...
